Surgeon’s Desk

56” wide - 34” deep - 30” tall

      This desk is made from eastern cherry and quilted western maple. The maple appears to have bubbles rising through it. The curved parts are made by laminating thin strips in a mold, they are joined with mortises and tenons. The maple in the top, panels and drawer fronts is band sawn veneer made in the shop and laid up on a substrate. The drawers are assembled with through dovetails and are guided top, bottom and sides by hard maple runners. The finish is polyurethane varnish.
